Age checks and site rules
This is not legal advice. Laws differ by country and they change. What follows is how most large amateur cam sites behave in practice.
Everyone in the room has to be an adult
Platforms that want to stay connected to banks and ad networks have to keep minors off both sides of the camera. That is why you see date-of-birth walls, ID uploads for performers, and sudden account freezes when a report comes in.
A checkbox that says “I am 18” is the weakest version. A performer ID check plus record-keeping is the stronger version. If you are broadcasting, assume the site will keep copies of whatever you uploaded. Ask where those files live.
What sites usually ban
- Anyone under 18 on camera or in chat, including “roleplay” that pretends otherwise.
- Illegal content. Sites write this broadly on purpose.
- Moving paying users off-platform to dodge the fee — they still often do it; the site will still ban you if caught.
Moderation is uneven. That is not permission. It is a reason not to treat “nobody stopped it” as a rule.
Viewers
You can still be kicked or reported. Do not test the edge of a site’s rules in public chat. Read are webcam sites safe? for the practical risk list, not the legal one.
What people get wrong
They treat a date-of-birth popup as the whole compliance story. For viewers that may be all they see. For performers it is usually ID, contracts, and files the company keeps after you quit.
They also copy rules from one country onto another. This page stays general on purpose. If you need a real answer, it is the statute where you live plus the site’s current terms — not a glossary.
